Lap Band With Plication

Recommended Posts

Great advice above. I had Lapband with plication exactly one year ago. Down 86 lbs, have always been able to drink with no problems. (don't have to sip)

Choosing to have this surgery was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I'm almost to goal and so happy with it.

Good luck!

I dont have to sip either. Congrats on all the weight loss! I'm down 16 since 8/10 (surgery) and 26 since 7/1. I definitely have restriction.

Not CG, but when you are eating so little you don't get as full. I was nervous in the beginning bc I was thinking I could eat alot but as you add thicker and more filling foods you should notice the restriction. I get chest pain if I eat more than about a cup. I am almost 5 weeks out.

i will (say in regards to what i know only) that yes, i felt restriction more after i healed. i am 3 months post op and get full on about 3/4 to 1 cup of food. i get that (thanksgiving dinner stuffed feeling). so yeah, i def feel it (and esp after i healed/swelling went down). i hope it is the same way for you. (also, just because you cant/dont feel (restricted) eat like you are anyhow).

I read the burping indicates that you have eaten to fast and to big of bites and the burping is brought on by while chewing the larger bite it brings in more air to your system. I was burping really really bad was embarrassing especially in public but since I read this I eat off toddler silverware now and it is so much better and I attempt to count to 50 between bites Slows me way down

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
