First Day Of The New Journey!

Recommended Posts

Today is the day I start my 2 weeks of liquid pre-op diet! I decided to go with Bariatric Advantage because of the higher Protein level. I have to have 3 Protein shakes a day, and I can 3 Snacks i.e. sugar free Jello, sugar free poosicle, crystal light, and propel.

What did you guys do to make this work easier and succeed in your pre-op diet?

Sounds good. Seems every diet is a bit different here from what I read. I start my pre op diet next Monday, and I pre bought my food at my nutrition class. Here is my daily intake for 7 days.

Hot chocolate with coffee mixed

oatmeal for Breakfast

Protein bar snack

Chili pack Soup

Rice and chicken Soup pack

I have two more soup Snacks left for the day if I need them they said. So basically 6 to 7 small meals a day.

Followed it to a T . Because this is the begining of a journey that ended the battle I admited I could not win on my own.. And my Dr said FAT LIVER you lose I will close you right back up..... And no way could I face my wonderful supportive husband with yet one more weight loss fiasco............You gotta want it , more then you want the little party in your mouth .

i am day two out of surgery. did Bariatric Advantage as well.... your surgeons diet was the same as mine..... there are so many different pre op diets out there..

i had to tell myself "its just food" and the truth is, the diet gets easier after day 2 or 3. hang in there!

Like previously stated, follow your Dr's preop to a t. Just a few weeks ago a woman who lost 15-20 pre surgery was closed back up because she chose to do her own diet and didn't follow the liver shrink diet and her liver was still too large.

I am going to have to use that as a mantra: FAT liver and the dr will close me up." thank you for the tip...no more parties in my mouth.

I am starving btw!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
