New Here, Labp Band Surgery Om 9/10/12

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to introduce myself, I have been following this forum for a while. I am very excited for this new chapter in my life!! Have been thinking about weight loss surgery since 2003, but thought I did not need surgical intervention. My highest weight was 308lbs, lost 20lbs on my own by excercising and making the right food choices. Now I have an additional tool to get to my weight goal!!

HI Bea and Sandra

Welcome to the forum. Please feel free to ask any questions that will make you understand more about the band. I have had great results, there has been some ups and downs but on the whole pretty good. On this forum there are plenty of people to answer your questions. I remember asking lots of them when I first started this process. Hugs to you both. God Bless

Hi, my name is Tammy. My surgery date is Sept 19. I'm anxious to get the show on the road. I am doing the 2 week pre-op liquid/ soft diet now. The 1st 4 days I was hungry, now not so much. I do miss crunchy stuff like pretzels though.

I don't even feel like I can compare to any of you on here. The closest I have got to be in the process is going to the seminar which is the hospitals first step the want you to do. (the one I want to go to) Oh well I guess we all have to fight for what we want even though we have all of our lives

One step at a time, it took me a year to have the surgery. Now it seems like the time flew with all the tests and nutrition classes. I am so glad I hung in there, you do the same. God Bless

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
