Depending on what your surgeon requires of you, you may or may not need to do this. It is medically supervised and my surgeon requires it, I even had to buy the shakes from his office. 4 a day for 2 weeks. The purpose is not for weight loss but to shrink the liver to make it easier and safer to do your surgery.
