Heartburn And Band Is Empty

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I had my surgery in 2008. I started having heartburn since February. I've been on Nexium, Prevacid, and Pepcid Complete. None of them work. I get heartburn on a empty stomach, and no matter what I eat or drink. It's painful. Everytime I come off the meds its a rebound heartburn and it hurts so bad. My doctor emptied my ban a month ago and I've had to upper GI's and everything seems normal. I'm leaning towards just removing the band. I'm not happy and just miserable. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for the heartburn please let me know.

I'm currently only taking Tums for instant heartburn after I eat or drink. I'm taking about 8 a day. I'm also drinking Aloe Vera hoping it helps but its been a week with no prescribed meds and I don't have any relief.

If your band has been checked and is ok, then I would suggest seeing a doctor that specializes in gastric issues. Don't immediately assume it's your band causing your problems, it could be many many other things totally unrelated to the band. You owe it to your health to explore all the possibilities.

Hi

I had my band removed three days ago. They found severe scar tissue and my esophagus and stomach are swollen. With the band out everything will heal back to normal. Im glad it's out and I don't plan on having another type of sugery. I lost most of my weight on my own. My band is been empty for almost 4 years. The dr said that I just fell in the that percentage that it didn't work. I'm going to continue what I learned and keep the weight off. Thanks

Maybe you have a hiatal hernia. Did a go md work eith u. Did yhey do sn egd and did a biopsy of your stomach to rule out for possible h pylori. You might have an ulcer and need carafate to heal thst and be placed on a ppi 40mg twice a day. You might want to try omeprazole aka prilosec
