Home from hospital - my band slipped.

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I just returned home after a 4 day stay in the hospital. I was having bad reflux and stomach pain last week, so I went in to get it checked out. As I suspected/dreaded, my band had slipped. I had band revision surgery on Tuesday and was released this morning. So far, so good... the pain isn't quite as bad as it was with my first banding. They put in a new band but kept the old port, so that could have something to do with the decrease in pain.

The doctors don't know why my band slipped. I've PB'd 3 times in the 8 months since my original surgery, but those were months ago. I don't drink pop or take NSAID's (in case you were wondering! :) ) If there's one thing I'm guilty of it's eating too quickly on occasion. I think I'm just one of the unlucky "1-3%" we're always hearing about.

Time for sleep. :notagree

Wow. Go back to bed! Thanks for updating us. I'm really sorry about your slip! but happy it's all fixed now. Here's hoping this one stays where it is! Did they replace the band with the same size?

Anne,

Thanks for letting us know you are ok, you were in our thoughts and prayers. I am glad to see yoru doctor was able to catch the slip band and get you a new one. Hey maybe you got an upgrade. I do have a question tho, I know they say the insurance companies will pay to have a slipped band removed, but will they pay again to have it replaced as you did?

Heal fast and feel better always.

Hey Anne.. Sorry to hear about the slip. I can't figure out how these happen when the stomach is sewn around the band. Did your stitches come loose?

I'm glad youre home and doing well. Rest and take care of yourself.

All things happen for a reason. Maybe you needed this 'fresh start'.

Anne, so glad you are doing well. But goodness, I sure hate that you had to go through this.

I like what Susan said - that maybe this will be a type of new beginning.

:) here's to health and happiness!

God bless!

Anne, I was so relieved when you said you got it fixed. I am so glad you did not lose it! relax and take care of yourself.

Do you have to do the same post-op diet?

I'm sorry you've gone through this, but I'm happy that your surgery was a success. Now, use the band for all its worth.

Blessings,

Jonathan

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
