Michele1975 37 Posted September 10, 2012 Runners: how much did you weigh when you started running?

Skyvic 226 Posted September 10, 2012 I started running intervals in June. 190...I have to go slow. Walk then start up again. I'm at 176 and can run a little longer but still do intervals of walking.
Michele1975 37 Posted September 10, 2012 Thanks! I'm trying to determine when I should start trying. I was think right around the 200-mark, so I've got quite a bit of weight to drop before then! I don't want too much impact on my joints.
joyrising 4 Posted September 11, 2012 I started at 230 and was sore for a few days. I walk and jog 3 miles 5 times a week.
lalaj 108 Posted September 11, 2012 I was 230 as well. Just take it easy and listen to your body. Best of luck 1 joyrising reacted to this
farmgirl04 231 Posted September 12, 2012 I have to laugh! I logged in this evening to ask the exact same question! It is 5 miles around our 'block', something I used to run everyday without fail. I love the circuit, but not the amount of time needed to walk it. I'm trying to figure out when I can start a low-key walk/jog program to shave some time off the 100 minute walk. Daylight is going to be at a premium before we know it! I am one month out of surgery, walking long distances is no issue, started light weight training today, but can't wait to really sweat it out running again! MellioM 116 Posted September 12, 2012 I started running at about 270/260. my run was at a fast walk pace. My warm up pace now is what my run pace was then. Rather than walking I ran slow. Really really slow. But I think that helped prep my body for real running. I used interval training like 5k runner or c25k and slowly increased my speed. I made sure I was always challenged and it wasn't too easy. I can now run a 11 minute mile no problem and could probably do a 10minute mile if I really pushed. I'm training for a couple if races this fall and hope to have my 5k time under 35 minutes by October 20th. Oh, I weigh 199 now and I can sprint fast. No sense in waiting until the weight is off. Run the weight off! That's what I'm doing anyway. 2 klm1648 and joyrising reacted to this
