Stomach Flu Only 18 Days Out??

Recommended Posts

Feeling incredibly naseous and an awful urge to puke! Diarrhea hit me like a tidal wave. I took promethazine, but it doesn't seem to help. Don't want to throw up like this so early out...Its the weekend at 4:30am, what do I do?!?

At 4.30am not really sure.If it was during office hours I would suggest calling your Dr.

You could try nibbling on some dry crackers or sipping on something with ginger in as both can help nausea.

Hope it gets better soon

I've got packets of zofran left from chemo, wish I could email it to you! Always always keep good anti nausea medicine on hand. I got gastro three days after surgery (thanks kids!) but maxalon saved me.

Ice relieves nausea for me, as does icy cold soda Water.

You may be dehydrated...nausea is not only a sign of tummy troubles, but also dehydration. That's a serious medical condition...

I hope you feel better...and just another thought. Though you may not want to disturb others, your surgeon's practice should have after hours coverage 24/7 to manage potentially serious situations like yours. That's part of their professional ethics they are supposed to follow and also their professional commitment they make to their patients.

When I had my pancreatitis attack...you can bet I was speaking with my bariatric surgeon at midnight...

Hope you are feeling better now...

Called my surgeons office and linked me to an after hours number. By 5am my hubby was on his way to Walgreens to pick up my prescription that was called in. Felt better after sleeping much of the day...Had 2 meds and both caused lots of drowsiness. However, its 2am and I'm feeling yucky yet again. Taking one of the pills to try to head it off and gonna soak in the tub to try and calm my stomach. I'm gonna watch what I eat extra close tomorrow and see if it could be that. Or its just a stomach bug or food poisoning that's lingering...Certain smells or even the thought of certain foods makes me stomach churn! Thanks for all the replies everyone! Was super scared to throw up and do damage to my stomach, band or both!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
