Bariatric Choice - Has Anyone Tried The Protein Bars?

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow bandsters,

Just wondering if anyone here has tried any Bariatric Choice products and whether or not you were happy with them? I ordered some of their Protein bars, as well as their pancakes and sugar free Syrup. The pancakes are high in Protein, low in sugar and carbs. I am hoping I'll be happy with the purchase because most of the reviews were very positive.

Thanks for any info! I also welcome any other info on products or websites you found particularly helpful. Thank you!!

I have not tried the pancakes but the BariWise bars are good, they are just pretty small for the price you pay for them.

I havent tried the Bariatric Choice Protein Bars but I have the Herbalife Protein bars. I have noticed that after I eat them I tend to have gas but gas seems to be my companion no matter what I eat. lol I had my surgery on August 1st and other than gas, I feel great. I have ordered my Vitamins from bariatric choice....but just like all the others I have tried, they make me kind of sick to my stomach. I have always had issues with vitamins though. I ordered the oatmeal but havent tried it yet. I hope its good. Hope your doing well.

Thank you for sharing that information! So glad to hear you are feeling great! I am very sore, but it's only my 2nd day post op so it is not unexpected. I am pretty bruised. I haven't tried their vitamins, but seem to digest my Centrum chewables very well just as I do my Viactiv with Calcium chewables. In fact, they taste like candy, so I rather look forward to them as strange as that probably sounds! Please let me know what you think of the Bariatric Choice oatmeal. I was curious about that too. Thank you, and good luck!

Just sharing a different opinion...my surgeon advised against using any of the Protein bars. His reasoning was that for the amount of calories they had, their nutritional value was not high enough.

As for Vitamins, it's important to compare the RDA of all of the ingredients of regular Vitamins with those of Vitamin supplements formulated specifically for bariatric patients. We do have special nutritional needs.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
