HI,

Just wanted to post to all the females out there about Birth Control.

I currently take a pill and although it is very small, I am worried at some point I will need to stop talking them. Has anyone not been able to continue taking BC orally after being filled a couple of times.

I have only been banded 3 weeks and am supposed to have my first fill on Sept 24. Im not too worried about my first couple of fills just curious how some woman have dealt with this situation.

Now that i am banded I especially do not want to get pregnant. I have a 6 year old son and we hope to be "trying" next november 2013. I want to really be selfish over the next year and focus on my weightloss before having another baby!

Thoughts?

I’m not banded yet - but have the merina IUD - and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it - they do not recommend it for people who haven’t had children yet - and its a little sucky being “installed” but other than that - it’s worry free and I LOVE IT

I've never had any problems with any pills - even the big ones. I take about 9 pills a day, inlcuding a tiny birth control one. As long as I haven't just eaten, they go down fine. And I've been banded for almost 3 yrs. Good luck!

If your band ever gets so tight that you can't swallow a birth control pill then you are in trouble. Seriously if something that small won't go through then you will starve.

Even after you reach the green zone you shouldn't have any problems swallowing a birth control pill. So, I wouldn't worry about that. Its small enough to go through with ease. As the. Previous post stated, I've never had any issues swallowing any pills and I take huge capsules.

I'm on the pill, and that's one I haven't had issues swallowing. If it does give you issues in the morning, consider switching to the evening. I find I'm often looser in the evenings, and wouldn't have a problem with that pill.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
