Mushies - What Do You Eat?

Recommended Posts

I am on the mushies stage and so bored with the yogurts, cream Soups, pudding, Jello, cottage cheese. What do some of you eat? I really miss my fork and cannot wait to use it again!

PS. I am 10 days post op.

Hi there! I'm 28 days post op. I've lost 25lbs already and don't believe I'm going to need my first fill any time soon.

I'm a "cruncher" ice, nuts, croutons etc... So even the mushy stuff got old quickly. Now when I need to crunch something, I take a bag of Pork rinds and sprinkle in 1 pk Splenda with cinnamon and shake it up like popcorn. I can never eat more than 3 so even tho the fat to cal ratio is not ideal it's very few calories and really satisfies. Not that I could or want to, but even if I ate entire bag, that would only be 320 calories. :-)

I just realized two things. Am I even on the mushies stage? And should have posted to the food section!

I really enjoyed the mushie stages, as odd as that may sound. I still do mushies inbetween a few solids. My mushy's contained:

Ricotta cheese (part skim)

Cottage cheese (1 or 2%)

Avacados (mashed up well)

Mashed Potatoes (white)

Mashed potatoes (yams)

Laughing cow lite creamy cheese

babybel lite cheese

**BY using just these recipes and the cream of Soups you can create your own meal***

Also, if you go to the food link on this site you can see many people have created some pretty good mushy recipes, including me :)

Enjoy....

Mashed potatoes with cheese was my best friend during this time. Apple sauce was also good- I would freeze it so you kinda have to chew, but it melts by the time it gets to your belly.

I would also let my cheerios get soft in milk a bit and eat them, make me feel more normal having Cereal. My nutrtionist ok'd this.

Ugh.... yogurt and cottage cheese. Lived off it. Lucky... my liquid/mushie stages went fast. 2 days post op liquid. then 2 weeks mushies then on to normal stuff.

I still have a hard time looking cottage cheese in the eye! (kidding) scrambled eggs are a good choice too but I could not keep them down, still have trouble.

Good Luck!

I made chilli with ground turkey and when I chew it down is is mushies. It was easy, I used Beans from stratch, but you can buy canned beans of your choice, I bought the Delmonte original chilli mix in a envelop package. I called for 2 cans of tomatoe sauce or stewed tomatoes and 1lb ground beef or ground turkey. I doubled it and use 2 stewed tomatoes and 2 tomatoes sauces. I ate it everyday at least once, and added hot pepper, onion, green peppers and it has been a week and I lost 4 pounds. I also ate chicken and tuna in a can with Heluva onion dip mix which is a quick way to make it into a salad and easy to go down. Hope this helps

I'm on the mushy stage right now too. My dr suggested scrambled eggs with cheese, fat free refried Beans and mashed potatoes. Also cottage cheese and Greek yogurt. Low fat ricotta cheese and spaghetti sauce is really good too. I'm still looking for new things as well! Already tired of what I'm eating. Good luck!

Thanks everyone! This has been helpful! I had some quiche (spinach and cheese) today and seemed to do ok with it.

My surgeon allowed me to have low fat turkey chili during mushies. I like it a lot and I found it at Walmart.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
