wichell 1 Posted September 7, 2012 Hi, I was banded on 8/17 and am still having a lot of pain where my port is placed. Is this normal??????
A New New Dawn 1,695 Posted September 7, 2012 That is normal (unless it is inflamed, red, swollen, etc. or extremely painful). It is the largest incision with the most stitching/cutting, etc. to place the port. My surgeon told me that one would be sore the longest. For me, it was pretty sore up until about 5 weeks. However, if anything seems abnormal, definitely contact your surgeon's office and let them guide you. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
Domika03 309 Posted September 7, 2012 I was also banded on 8/17, and every once in a while I feel what I would call discomfort, not pain. Sometimes when I bend forwardd I get like a twitch or something, and I wonder if I "broke" something. Like A new dawn said above, if you feel it's really painful, then by all means, call your Dr. It can't hurt to see what he thinks... hang in there
LBSept09 33 Posted September 7, 2012 They sew your port into muscle. .. this takes a very long time to heal. 3years out I still feel twinges from time to time and a pulling feeling if I over extend that area. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
wichell 1 Posted September 7, 2012 Thank you for replying. I feel everything was not explained enough to me at the surgeon's office. It's not a constant pain, but sitting makes it worse and of course if I roll onto the area while falling asleep. I appreciate the replies:)

And I've been hurting for a couple of weeks. I have. Doctors appointment tomorrow. I was just curious what I would be looking at when I went to doctor?? A New New Dawn 1,695 Posted September 12, 2012 By red, inflamed and hurting, I meant looking or feeling like it may be infected. It would be swollen, sore, red, etc. Mine was that way and it was an issue w/ the stitches (thankfully, no infection and was easily fixed).
marfar7 1,533 Posted September 19, 2012 It's been almost 3 yrs for me and I stiil occasionally feel discomfort where my port is. Usually it's just after a fill or unfill, but last nite, it felt bruised. Haven't had a fill in months. I think I might have slept on it wrong the nite before. Good luck!
