m.boyer 8 Posted September 7, 2012 So I have had my band almost 5 months. I am down 34 since surgery. I am pretty much at the weight I was when I delivered my son. He is now 4! I ideally would like to get under 200 before conceiving, but it is so hard trying to be patient. I feel like I am focusing too much on the future and not the present. Doesn't help that a lot of my Mom friends are having more too. On the plus side, my husband and I can at least talk about it without me ending up in tears. He likes to plan everything, whereas I just like to let things happen. Anyone else feel like they are in the same boat? 1 Harrier's Woman reacted to this
fostermomma 39 Posted September 7, 2012 I actually had to choose whether I should try to conceive or have the lap band. I am 42 and the clock is ticking. I am one of those people who thinks I can handle anything but my husband was concerned for my health. Even though I am big, I am a relatively healthy person and had no trouble being pregnant with my son, who is now 7. I want to be as healthy as I can and, if God is willing, I may be able to still have a baby. Do what you think is right for your body and your family. I know when all of your mom friend's are having babys it is hard not to get on the bandwagon(pun intended) but follow your heart. Good luck!
Kime-lou 648 Posted September 7, 2012 I had to make that choice to try again or have surgery. I have had 3 miscarriages in 2 years. I can get pregnant just can't stay pregnant. My doctor and husband felt that it would be best for me to lose weight and then try again. Due to the types of meds or shots they may give me that could cause even more weight gain it is important for me to be at a lower weight to start with so that me and the baby will be safe. I am 31, but my hubs is 39 so I feel like the clock is ticking for us.
Mara005 70 Posted September 7, 2012 We also put TTC on the back burner for my surgery. I have a son who is 2 1/2 years old and I would love for him to have a sibling. But it's much better for me and "future baby" to be at a lower bmi. I'm hoping to lose 100 lbs before TTC again. I undersand the desparate want for another baby and it doesn't seem to get any easier no matter how much I say it's better to wait. 1 Harrier's Woman reacted to this
