I felt the same way! If I could have hit an "undo" button I would have but I'm super happy I did it. I was banded on 7/26. It does pass! Hang In there!

I just had Lap Band surgery on Monday 9/10 and I can totally relate to the feelings of regret, although for me they are just stemming from the pain I'm in. I think wondering why we would choose to do something that puts our bodies in pain first is NATURAL and that along with that comes the psychological defense of regret. Last night, as I was hobbling along and in severe gas pain in my shoulder, I said to my husband "Why the hell did I have this stupid surgery?????" But clearly, we all know the reason and when I think about it rationally, I know I did the right thing for myself and that I am setting myself up to succeed. I know in my rational mind that THIS TOO SHALL PASS and that in this case, time will work to our favor and help us heal, physically and mentally! Best of luck on our shared journey. We are all in the same boat.

I never regretted it. I knew my reasons and goals and concentrated on them. My first week+ was so easy appetite wise, then my body adjusted and I wondered why I did it, but not regret. They said it was like getting a new toy, but is wasn't out of the box yet (no fill) but that not reading and following the instructions was even worse. Eating chicken so soon is probably why you can't get fluids down by the way.

I always thought about my end game (weight loss naturally ) and knew that was why. It was the rest of my life I was looking forward to. There are no magic wands and that is hard to remember when you are hurting. Pain makes us forget.... but it is very temporary compared with the rest of a long healthy life.

Be well.

I was banded yesterday and had the same thoughts yesterday and even today but I know I will do whatever I have to hit my goal. Its hard because this is an elective surgery and who in there right would put themselves through this pain. I'll tell you who ...all of us who had tried everything to lose weight and not been able to keep it off. The up and downs emotionally that impact our self esteem and our health. This surgery has a lot of benefits also it can cure a lot of aliments high cholesterol, diabities, heart disease etc. we are trying to beat this addiction to gain years to our lives. we can do it and we are all worth it and owe it to ourselves to live the best life we can.

No pain no gain. I know its a tired saying but it true. Recovering from surgery hurts. The meds and following Dr's orders helps..but it was about 2 weeks before I felt normal again. Now that I am way on the other side.... I have no regrets or misgivings. Do I wish I wouldnt have had to resort to surgery? Yes. Am I glad it was an option for me... absolutely!

oh boy...My surgery date as it stands right now is Sept. 28, however reading this,I'm getting scared. See I have a low threshold for pain. I had a c-section before and boy that was the worst time of my life; but thank God I had my mom and my husband to help me. But this time around, I have no one but my 8yrs old son with me. So i'm wondering if i'm going to be able to cope for a week or so. Having second thoughts now :o:(

I've had 2 c/sections and got banded three days ago (Tuesday). I have had a LOT of pain, but my doctors and nurses worked pretty hard to help get it under control. I was kept overnight (standard for all patients who see my surgeon) and that gave them a good chance to try and control the pain. I had to advocate for myself because they weren't doing enough until I pushed the issue. Anyways, my c/sections were definitely worse, but overall the feeling is similar - just more mild than the c/s. Just don't hesitate to take the pain pills, that's what they're there for! If you're hurting too much and not doing anything to treat the pain it will hinder your healing. Good luck!

Gee, I am sorry for saying that I regret my decision to have the Lap Band. Actually I am really excited about my body healing and starting my journey. I had other symptoms and my Doctor called me yesterday and he explained that while they did the lapband they repaired a hernia while they were in there. He explained that I would have shortness of breath and the pain was from where they sewed the port to the muscle; so after I talked to him; I understood my body symptoms were normal. I really feel like the first week is the toughest; but I think I have turned the corner on healing. I am feeling sooooo much better. I am such a go getter that I am sure I overdid also the first week. I am so grateful to this forum and others who blog and post and help us thru what they have already experienced. I hope in a way I can pay others back.

Joy band, you will find that the hernia repair pain is worse and will last longer than the lap band pain. Go without a bra if you can and that will help the hernia incision heal faster. Give it a couple weeks and you will feel much better!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
