I think you just need time. Everything seems better in the morning. My surgery is Monday and I keep waffling. But I've battled this for 30 years. It's obvious that I can't do this alone. You needed a tool. And you gave yourself one. Don't regret choosing yourself and better health. Ask for some pain meds or something to help you sleep. Keep me posted. I'd love to hear you reach many milestones over the coming couple of years.

I just made sure I took the pain meds at night so that I got a good nights sleep. You need that to heal. You also need to make sure you get as much Fluid in you as you can. You do not want to become dehydrated. That will also cause pain. Believe us, it will get better. Keep the faith and make sure you drink.

The feelings that you are writing about are totally normal...they are just a part of the many adjustments that you are doping with now...and pain does not make it any easier to cope.

I remember waking up the first morning post op and asking myself "What the h$#* did I do" to myself...but now am totally happy with the progress I've made to date!

Everything does get better...the pain should resolve within the next few days. You will eventually find that it is easier to drink everything also as your body heals.

Make certain to continue to keep yourself properly hydrated...if you begin to feel nauseous, that may be a sign of dehydration.

Best wishes for a successful journey...

I've never regretted doing the band. In fact, I counted the days until my surgery. I am so optimistic that the band will do its job. All I have to do is my part in getting to my weight reduction goals. I've had a easy time so far and am looking towards my first fill on Sept 18.

Be positive in all your actions! Keep the faith and Be strong in your new journey.

You are healing and will be for a while. Give your body a break. Sip slowly and in a little while you will be eating food.

For now try to relax and use pain meds if you need them. Walk as much as you can

good luck

Wendy

oh boy...My surgery date as it stands right now is Sept. 28, however reading this,I'm getting scared. See I have a low threshold for pain. I had a c-section before and boy that was the worst time of my life; but thank God I had my mom and my husband to help me. But this time around, I have no one but my 8yrs old son with me. So i'm wondering if i'm going to be able to cope for a week or so. Having second thoughts now :o:(

I am banded almost 2 years. I hardly had any pain after. I also had an on-Q pain management system... It's not as bad as a c section. Take has x strips afterward no matter what. They can't hurt. A lot of pain is really just gas. Feels like you did a ton of crunches at the gym. Best decision of my life that band!

I would say the first 5 days after surgery were the hardest. After that I was able to get around and breathe easier. Even though my weight loss has been slow, I don't regret surgery. It has not only helped me lose weight, but improved my confidence, energy, and made me want to take better care of myself.

Hi everyone. I had my surgery on September 6, 2012. I also thought what in the h.....have I done to myself. I let my brain run away with all the negative problems that can happen. The pain is worse that I thought it would be; really I am not a big baby. I know that things will get better and that this will be a forgotten memory. I want so much to improve my overall help and self esteem. I am so grateful for these forums and the support that they offer to us just starting our journies. I am trying to replace the negative thoughts with more positive ones; I know that I will get thru this. Good luck to all of you!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
