I was banded tuesday. I'm drinking only clear liquids till tomorrow. I was able to lie on my side a little when I put a pillow under my stomach and I had to wear the binder. If you're taking the pain killers that is probably why you're so tired. I stopped taking them and am only on Tylenol. Not to mention the anesthesia sometimes lingers in our system and keeps us feeling drowsy.

I felt like a train wreck for four full days following my surgery. The Gas-X strips I'd heard so much about did absolutely nothing for me, but a heating pad made me feel so much better. I could barely sip anything, and was pretty dehydrated by the end of the first week, so try to take in some Water and Protein Drink if possible. I also was pretty immobile for about a week; after that I could move about freely, lay in any position, and felt nearly 100% overall. Good luck to you!

I slept and slept and slept most of the first 2 days after. Combination of the meds and the anesthesia I think were the culprit of wanting to sleep so long. Not to mention the fact that I just had major surgery. Lol I wouldn't worry about being tired, and the pain seems pretty normal too. If it hurts to sleep on your back and it's more comfortable in a different position then sleep that way. I couldn't sleep on my right port side for the first week. The first couple days my back hurt too so I just laid off to the side a bit to take some pressure off, but still on my back. Any other way either hurt my incisions, my port or made it hard to breathe. This cleared up for the most part after about a week. I still have some issues sleeping directly on my stomach where my port is, but I just adjust myself a little and it's fine. Just take it 1 day at a time and do what is most comfortable for you. Good luck to you on your journey! :-)

Also, as far as your diet goes I would definitely ask your surgeon for a refresher as to what is best for you to be eating right now. I swear I went into it super prepared and got a bad case of surgery brain...Lol, like I came out forgetting it all. I was on all liquids for the first week though. It didn't have to be all clear, just no chunks of any kind. Every person is different and you'll start realizing that more and more...Im continually surprised everyday. :) The only thing for sure right now is to stay hydrated!! And I never had any sort of wrap, even though it sounds like it would have been helpful...So I don't have any advice on that. :) Good luck!! :))

I was feeling pretty good other than the gas pain and some port site pain within 48 hours. It took a few more days to be comfortable on my side or tummy, but with a firm pillow, I was OK. Check with your doctor but I was on clear liquids only in the hospital and then I could add some Soups (like strained cream of mushroom or chicken) and Protein Shakes. Just keep the amount to a little at a time--like 4 ounces. If you get too full, you feel worse. After a few days, you'll see you can eat and drink a little more. Stay on top of the water--that's really important. If the wrap helps to keep everything stable, I would keep it on.

I felt like crap for about a week. It does go away, but I had some pretty unnerving thoughts when I was feeling pretty crap wondering if I'd done the right thing.

sleep wise, normal to feel pretty groggy and exhausted, your body has gone through surgery. Rest when you feel you need to.

sleep position wise, I think everyone is different, I couldnt lay comfortably on my side, instead had to lie on my back. As a side sleeper it was annoying. I could go back to my side about a week later.

For the back pain, it's likely to be trapped gas, I found moving around helped ease the pain and shift it, I used to go for a walk even down the street and back to feel better.

food wise, follow your docs instructions, worse case give them a call to clarify. The very first few days I wasn't very interested in food, just stuck to sipping liquids.

Hope you recover soon and best of luck on your weight loss plans :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
