Krystle Austin 14 Posted September 6, 2012 Does anyone know if aetna will accept weight watchers logs for medically supervised diet with a letter from PCP? Or what other diets the insurence may accept? do they ask for the records or will a letter from my pcp with details work? like dates and weights because the DR;s office notes leave alot to be desired.... Rita1576 5 Posted September 6, 2012 I just had my surgery on 8/7/12 and I have aetna. They do not count weight watchers :(/ You have to go to your pcp for 6 consecutive months and have weight loss counseling. If you miss one month, you have to start all over again. They also ask for previous history of weight to make sure that you have been obese, I hate that word, for more than two years. Unfortunately for me, they waited until 2 weeks before my surgery to tell me this and had me stressed out and didn't give me a definite approval unitl the thursday before the surgery(sorry I had to vent about them) Good Luck on your journey
Rita1576 5 Posted September 6, 2012 Also, my surgeon reccommended a PCP that he worked with so that he would know what to write on the notes and where to send me for all the additional tests. And my PCP is a pulminologist, so that took care of the PFT
RandiCartmill 18 Posted September 10, 2012 I think it depends on your plan coverage. I have Aetna and either had to do stuff months with my Dr or three months with a nutrionist than had to have physch eval, two charted weights for past two years and that's it approval only took five days once submitted and they paid 90% Banded August 28 2012
Starting weight 293
Day of surgery weight 273
Current weight 258
Goal weight 160 5ft
