My Lapband's Got My Back!!! My New Bff!

Recommended Posts

So, I am not proud that I was attempting to cheat on my 'diet' (hate that word) today. After one of the most stressful weeks I have had in years (personally), I decided that I was going to have a treat today and tomorrow would be a better day. Woe is me and emotional eating and momentary weakness was taking over.

I was frustrated at myself for succumbing to that after I have done so well for 2 months. However, I also felt that it would be ok "this one time". I know one time turns into two, etc. and am not proud or justifying it but also not ashamed as tomorrow really is a NEW day. :)

All I can say is I LOVE MY NEW BFF ~ my LAPBAND! My attempt at cheating was just that. After taking in a small bit, it decided it wasn't having it, didn't want it and told me a thing or two (ouch). After just a few bites, and pain that followed, off went the junk food and in came water!!!

Thank you lapband for tonight ~ you saved me from myself!!! You kicked my @#$ in line when I didn't have the strength to keep myself in check!

Tomorrow it's you and me ~ working TOGETHER this time.

The band can be your friend. YOU still have to do all the work and say NO.

Best wishes

Don't beat yourself up over it. You didn't "cheat" because this isn't a diet. It's a lifestyle change and life happens. Sometimes you need a little indulgence. It isn't realistic to think that your going to go through the rest of your life without an occasional treat. I just ate an oatmeal cookie. Am I mad at myself? Heck no! Am I going to eat another one? No! Am I going to eat one tomorrow? Probably not. Everything is OK in moderation. You just need to know when to stop and you new BFF will help you with that!

Even though they say you can eat most all things with the lapband it's just if you should or not, I tell myself I can't. I use to love Cinnabon, when my husband and I went into the mall the other night and walked past cinnabon, I thought YUCK. He was drooling, I have conditioned myself that if I eat that my stomach will hurt really band and I hate stomach aches, so just smelling it turned me off. My BFF had gastric and a cinamon bun kills her, so I just told myself it would do the same for me. Yeah for conditioning.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
