If You Are Near/at Your Green Zone...please Share Some Of The Foods That You Can Eat

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. Not long ago someone posted a fun topic where we listed all the foods we were no longer able to eat--I really enjoyed that one...let me know that I am not the only one who is no longer able to eat some of my favorites.

But...now I have a new question. I was filled to 6cc last week and I think I am getting really close to my green zone...however...I have also noticed that I have been having difficulty with foods--such as chicken (especially when it is DRY, salad, etc. I am wondering you can help by listing some of the foods/types of foods that you can eat since you are at or near your green zone.

Thanks bunches.

When I got to the green zone I had to finally say no to bread!! I also had trouble with dry meat, and broccoli. But really NO BREAD!!

Oops, I thought it was about what food we couldn't eat.

I could eat pretty much everything except bread, dry meat and broccoli, as long as I ate it PROPERLY!!!!!

I could sometimes eat very thin crust pizza. It was one of those things that sometimes it would bother me and sometimes it wouldn't. Also, chili was like that -- sometimes yes, sometimes no.

I know this sounds like a cop out answer, but I don't eat anything special. In fact, there isn't anything I can't eat. I just make sure what I do eat is healthy, for instance lean chicken breast rather than a fatty burger.

As a general rule, I make sure all meats are very moist. I marinade a lot, like pork chops and chicken, because if the meat is dry I'm far more likely to get stuck.

Whatever I want but I've changed my eating habits so it's mostly healthy foods. No fast food and very little of anything that begins as white. Small portions of flour products, much smaller dairy and no sugar. But that's all by choice. I can eat whatever I want as long as I'm mindful of how big my bites will be.

I am at 7cc in 10cc band. I was filled to that pount about 10 weeks ago. The first few weeks were really a struggle. Couldn't eat hardly anything, but I think it was more my fault than anything. I have since learned how to slow down and chew a lot more and am not having that issue so much anymore. What I CAN NOT eat is bread, Pasta, rice, tortillas, most red meat... I CAN eat (if chewed properly) chicken, fish, veggies, salad (I request it to be finely chopped), mashed potatoes... I don't eat much variety because I am full so fast. I get my Protein in first and foremost, then I usually do a salad and finish filling with whatever veggies I can get down. Over the last 6 weeks my band has seemed to loosen a little and I am considering a small fill at my year appt in October. I won't see them again until April, so I want to make sure I am good now. Good luck!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
