Only discomfort from surgery not any true feeling of having a strange object in me as I thought I would. For the most part unless I over eat a little, I don't know it is there. Best of luck in your journey. Here to assist if you have questions.

I didn't feel anything afterwards. I thought I'd be able to feel the port and felt for it to no avail. When I got back to my room, I just wanted to walk. After having gallbladder surgery, I was afraid I'd have pain in my shoulder if I didn't walk. I haven't had any mentionable pain at all. I stopped taking my pain medication the next day.

I didn't feel anything after either. I am 3 weeks post op. I have never felt my band at all but did have pain at my port site and I can feel it. You will be fine!

Everyone is different. I woke up with awful pain in my left shoulder and neck, that lasted over 3 weeks. I can clearly feel my port, under my right breast. I also had 2 hernias fixed at the same time. I still have tenderness in the port area. I was banded 08/08/12. Good luck.

I felt groggy but nurses were there to talk to me and make sure I was ok, they check your vitals to maintain you. I felt sore and tummy incisions sore but I had steri strips so I couldn't see incisions. As I was wheeled to a room they kept oxygen on me because I was fairly low. They want that oxygen to go up before releasing you. I was allowed to drink warm Water in sips and small souffle style cups of Protein Drink. I had to get up later and walk. You will have compression things on your legs to help prevent blood clots. You need to walk too. It wasn't a bad experience, I was just super tired. Went in at morning but didn't go hone til 10:00 at night.

The day of was a blur. I was groggy and tired. That night (and the next 3), my neck and shoulder hurt and no amount of percocet would help. I slept upright for three nights because I couldn't lay flat (hernia stitches inside). Very gassy, so get some gas x. The day after was rough for me. I had nausea and dry heaves all day long. Cried and cried about if I made the right decision. I am day 6 post op and have some pressure under my left breast bone and a small neck tingle, but other than that, feeling so much better. Of course every creak in my stomach I think the band has slipped, is that normal, etc. I know I made the right decision and each day gets easier. You have some great support here!

I, personally, did not "feel" the band inside after surgery. Some people are really in tune with their bodies and say they can feel it. I also did not try to find my port for the first week or so because of the incision pain.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
