OH my goodness. I woke up this mornig feeling so much better. I still have bad pain in my left shoulder/ chest area. About an hour ago I was sitting in my chair and when I took a deep breath it felt like someone stabbed me in my side. I cant take deep breaths or move certain ways without it knocking the breath out of me. It's sharp shooting pain on my left side. I can't call my dr since its labor day. I just wanna know it's normal...it's so much worse than than the gas pain.

Where is your port located? Left or right side? If it's the left, it's probably the port area, they are attaching the port to muscle and it's going to be tender for some time. If it gets really bad, head to the ER though, better to be safe than sorry.

I did not experience much pain in my port area, but I did experience soreness on my left side, opposite of the port placement, and they told me I pulled a muscle, It lasted for about 2 weeks and I'm happy to say it's gone, so I guess it was a pulled muscle.

My ports on the left, but the pain is lower and more on my side. I guess it could be te port. But I dot understand how it came out I nowhere and it wasn't hurting before. I'm almost six days post op.

Maybe try a heating pad?

Since surgery (July 9th) I have had weird, random pains come out of nowhere that I was thinking something new was wrong with me every week and I'm not a hypochondriac :), but I think I just needed to be patient and let myself heal. Now I feel normal again, it will get better.

Yea I'm laying down with a heating pad (I wouldn't survive without it!!!) I'm fine with pain, I've had much More intense surgeries...its just freakin me out that it's hard to breath. I'm just gonna wait it out and if it's not better tomorrow I'll call my doctor. Thanks :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
