Paulax 8 Posted March 22, 2006 Pre op here, still in awe how some of you can eat so little and not complain about feeling weak. I just read a post about having a fill and going back to liquids for a few days. Are you feeling lethargic when you do that? Are you able to exercise? Does the body go into starvation mode and sloooooooowwwwwww down? I just can't imagine! I am in awe!
shanna 0 Posted March 22, 2006 It's amazing how many calories you can get in on liquids (not Clear Liquids, but blended liquids). During the liquid post-op days I didn't gain or lose. Just maintained, which was good. I didn't have any weakness during that time. But, if you ever become too tight and can't get down solids or liquids THAT is when you get weak. The past few weeks have been a reminder to me - if you become so tight that you can't eat solids and can drink few liquids get an unfill immediately because it does not get better with time. Only worse. Even during the "too tight" times I have continued my exercise program-just took it easier. I didn't want to get out of the routine. Good luck! Jachut 487 Posted March 22, 2006 I didnt officially have to do the Optifast but I tried to anyway thinking it would be a great kick start. I was passing out after about three days, I called my doc and he told me not to be an idiot and eat something. I cant survive on that much food and I had problems on liquids a few days after surgery too until I started actually getting in real food in liquid form instead of Optifast, Water and coffee. Its tempting to go for the fast weight loss but there's really no advantage to your body to lose 20lb in 8 days, its not fat and there's no way it can ever be fat when you lose that fast, its Water, lean body tissue and a bit of fat. So just get a balanced, reasonable amount of calories in via good Soups, fruit and milk smoothies etc and you'll be fine.
