Question For Those Who Have Had It Awhile..

I'm worried about getting lots of lose skin..I know they say exercise helps with it but what do you think?

It all depends on your age, skin elasticity, and how much weight you have to lose.

You can exercise like mad but if you have a ton of weight to lose skin can only shrink back so much. This is more true the older you get.

P.S.- you might want to fill out your profile info, it will help us know how to respond you

A lot depends on age and how long you have been overweight, also how quick you lose. I have lost 230 lbs I lost 120 the first year and the rest over 3 years I did exercise but not a lot and I was overweight for 25 yrs had surgery at 41..I do have lose skin mine is not bad enough for insurance to grant plastic surgery unfortunately.although I would feel better if I had it..I look good in most clothes but bathing suits and naked not so much..lol .so it has a lot of factors as to how much loose skin you will have..

Since you are so young, I think you have a chance of your skin bouncing back. I hope so!

I agree, you're young and have under 100 pounds to lose so you might not have the lose skin if you do a lot of toning exercises.

Oh to fill out your profile. Look at the top right of the screen. See your picture? Click it then click the "edit profile" button on the upper right side of your profile. The tab called "my surgery" is where you enter in all your surgical info.

Best wishes!

For those of us over 50 who have lost over 200...it's a sadder state of affairs. If you look closely at my profile pic you can see all the skin on my arms. It's not as bad as I thought but if time and money weren't an issue I would do something about it. My upper legs are the worst...and my tummy isn't horrible but it could use some lifting.... And my chest is....well all I can say is thank goodness for padded bras. I may look into the chest....and I hear they can do the tummy at the same time so we'll see....

Being young I would think you should fare pretty well.

I have lost about 170 pounds (100 pre op). I'm 42 and have exercised everyday for 3 + years. Have been very lucky limied lose skin, though I still have about 40 to go. My worst area is actually under the chin.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
