Out Of Curiousity... Band Slipping...

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I just had my lapband on 8/28/12... And everything seems so far ok... I haven't vomited or anything.. but I've been told that I must follow the diet to avoid band slipping...

How does a person know if their band slipped? Is there certain side effects? Just wondering what to look out for...

I've heard that you will know because you wont be able to keep anything down. Not even Water.< /p>

Actually the only way you can know for sure if your band has slipped is with a test such as a barium swallow to check the position of the band. It's rare but slips can occur with no symptoms until they've become severe.

Anytime you can't keep Water down, are vomiting regularly, have night cough, or acid reflux that you didn't have before- you want to contact your doctor. They could be signs of either a band that's too tight or a slipped band.

Thank you for the info. I didn't know you could have no symptoms!! That is a little scary!

I'm wondering whats going on recently. I can eat during the day but at evening time if I eat anything, I'm up till all hours either regurgitating food or phlegm. At times it even burns in my throat. I've had the band loosened and I was fine for about a month. It only happens at night. I move around a lot during the day and have no problems, but dont move around much in the evening. Anyone have this problem? Some advice please.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
