Morning Star "meatless" Products?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone here buy/eat Morning Star meatless products? I have had a few friends suggest them to me. I decided to pick up a couple things at the grocery store today, but I am curious if anyone else eats it. Is it tasty? Is it really a better choice?

I like the Breakfast " sausage" patties and the breakfast links. They definitely don't taste like real pork sausage , but they do taste good. I love the corn dogs and the "ribs" are not bad. They also make a breakfast sandwich, but I don't eat that because it is a lot of bread. The " chicken" nuggets are also good.

Being a vegetarian I have tried them all! I love using the crumbles in recipes that call for ground beef. The garden burgers are great and the chikn patties are good but I really like Boca spicy chikn patties better. I like to have a veggie burger with salsa for lunch.< /p>

What's even better than those is tvp textured veggie Protein. You can get this at the health food stores.

I ate the Morningstar Farms and Boca products for years and thought they were very tasty. I can't think of any particular ones that I would say did not taste good. Ribs, chick'n patties, and crumbles were my favorites.

After reading this post I bought some Morningstar Honey BBQ Riblets and Corndogs. I just tried the Riblets and they weren't half bad, but I'm not really sure what to compare them too, lol.

They really don't taste like anything else.

It is an cquired taste.

I ended up loving the corn dogs dipped in honey mustard !

The riblets, not so much. I kept on expcting that delicious , BBQ flavor.

Tasted the sausages and bacon strips once. Not bad

But just wondering, are they nutritionally good things to eat? (don't remember looking at the package at the time)

Maybe i'll buy 'em again

I got a 'chicken' tvp and just used celery and pepper and onion and mayo. I love my health food stores vegan one but I can't figure out how they make nayonaise taste good. :-/

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
