JhonnieB 73 Posted September 2, 2012 I'm Lyn 37 female 320-325lbs 5'6 BMI is 41. I have pre high blood pressure, possible sleep apnea, and severely bad knees. I'm been obese a majority of my life. I'm tired of being tired. I want energy, I want to be able to walk without being tired and having my knees hurt. So after several months and months of trying it do it the non surgical way. I have decided to attend a seminar this Wednesday. I'm excited but nervous too. I really want to feel better. Also nervous about my insurance approval (Athem bcbs) I've been reading the forum and have gotten excited and scared at the same time. I will be checking in after my seminar on Wednesday .... I'm ready to start this journey
Bamabander 111 Posted September 2, 2012 Good luck! I think you will find the seminar will answer a lot of your questions. I don't think insurance will be a problem as long as your policy covers WLS. I think your BMI is 51-52... Doubt you will need any co-morbids due to that! I can tell you it was the best decision I ever made.. Just wished I'd do e it sooner! 1 JhonnieB reacted to this
♕ajtexas♕ 3,771 Posted September 2, 2012 Hi Lyn, welcome. I was banded Feb 7, 2012 and have lost 60 lbs so far, 30 to go. I have to say that being banded is the best thing that ever happened to me. It saved my life. 7 months ago I was pre diabetic, took 3 different meds for my high blood pressure and had bad acid reflex. Today I am off all meds, my blood pressure is normal, no longer pre diabetic and haven't had acid reflex in a long time. The band is a tool that assists you in your weight loss journey. You have to do a lot of work. Change your diet completely and exercise. If you do that it will work well for you. Keep reading this forum, do a bunch of research, look into all your options and make the choice that best suits you. Best of luck to you. 3 ☠carolinagirl☠, JhonnieB and JMV reacted to this
Tomander 614 Posted September 2, 2012 HI Lyn Take it one day at a time. I have no regrets at all. Don't compare yourself to others. The band can be different from person to person. I can eat ANYTHING except rice, apple skins and no carbonated beverages. I LOVE my band... it changed my life. If you any questions feel free to ask. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. vowen 24 Posted September 2, 2012 Hello, I was in the same boat you are in. I had my surgery on 8/20/2012 so far I am down 20 lbs. I had a rough start because i was sick from the anesthesia. Now that, that is out of my system I feel great. I go for my follow up on Tuesday and can't wait to see what my Dr. has to say. I DO NOT regret having the band at all. It will be life changing, but I am so ready for it. Good luck to you! 2 JhonnieB and ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
