I was just wondering if anyone else had this same feeling as me. Iv noticed that every time after I eat...it doesn't matter if its a protin shake or regular food, I start to get a really intense punched in the stomach feeling in my high mid abdomen. It last about 15 min before it passes. Does anyone know what this could be or do you have the same feeling? It's not terrible pain feels more like a bad stomach ach for a few min.

it might be that ur eating to quickly and missing that * feeling satisfied * sign and going right to being over full. when i just got my band.. i would often feel that pressue in my chest high abdomen area.. i think.. its just that heaviness resting on the band puttin pressure on the pouch.. then as the food starts working its way down out of the pouch.. down into the stomach cavity... u start feeling the relief. ( the 15 mins later feeling)

my advice... eat slower.. stopping every now and then..to see if ur still hungry.. or if u just want to finish the plate. :)

You could be getting stuck, in which case smaller bites and chewing better would help alleviate the problem. However, it could be a hiatal hernia or maybe even gall bladder attacks. I would try take tiny bites and chewing it until mush, and if you still have the problem, ask your doctor about it.

I get that sometimes and it usually means I need to burp a little. Once I release the gas it goes ago.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
