Port Feels Like It Is Pulling Downwards?!?

Recommended Posts

I am 10 days post op. When I stand up I feel like my port is being pulled downward. Anyone else experience that feeling? I can't walk around with out holding my belly in.

I'm 30 days post op , two weeks ago or since I had the surgery I had the same feeling. I even had problems when I tried sleeping. I felt like the port and band was hanging in there. The Good news is that in a couple of weeks your muscle will build up and that feeling will go away.

Had a very similar feeling with port. I thought I had to hold it to keep it in place. !! Lol

Not the obvious though. Just a healing phase. I'm great now, 16 days post op;)

Im a side sleeper and I had that same feeling only when I would try sleeping on my left side. Well I woke up on my left side a couple of days ago - no "hanging" feeling. Yaaaay. Give it a little more time and you should be ok. :)

Ok. I appreciate the responses. It now feels ok when I first stand up and I can twist and turn with no issues so that's a step in the right direction. However the tug I feel when standing up straight is painful unless I actually hold my top tummy (lol) up a little.

I still have this and alot of pain at times, 3 weeks out...hope it goes away? Felt for a couple weeks like someone was inside pulling my guts inward as if trying to rip something away from my abdominal wall? I also had a hiatal hernia fixed at time of surgery but have been told its the port incision site?

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
