Mental I Tell Ya...

Recommended Posts

I am mental.

Today I went shopping for needed new work clothes. I bought one XL dress, mostly L clothes and even my first ever Medium shirt!!!

So why am.I sitting here near tears because I haven't had any weightloss in a month???

I really need the scale to start moving again. And no, I haven't lost any inches in the past month either. :-(

We're all a little mental...at least I am ;)

I think the new clothes will help you...they'll motivate you...you'll feel better and that will translate to a loss on the scale.

Maybe change things up a little bit with food/exercise....some times the body just needs a jolt

Congrats on the new clothes!

Ugh. How frustrating! Congrats on the new clothes though... I'd go back to basics and make sure you're following your doctors instructions to the letter. Even a few hundred calories or a few minutes of exercise can make a big difference. Don't lose faith. It'll start working again. Easy to say, right? This is the part that separates the wheat from the chaff. Hang in there. This is your new lifestyle - not a diet.

D.

Just wanted to say that I broke my plateau!

Oh and I do waaaaay more than a few minutes of exercise at least 5 but usually 6 days a week. I'm a runner and I do at minimum 2 miles a day (and that is only the days where I just don't have time). I also strength train 2/3 times a week and sometimes take a cardio class like step or kickboxing.

Those plateaus are the worst. I hit one every few months like clockwork. Glad you broke through yours and yay on the new clothes !!

i feel so mental ever since i had my surgery i think we focus so much on the numbers on the scale and forget to look at the other things like smaller clothes, and more energy and getting off medication... i also get so frustrated that i have let my head win lately instead of my band telling me what to do ... i will not be hungry physically but my head will tell me i deserve a treat since i have been working out... please tell me i am not the only crazy one with that

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
