September Autumn Challenge

Welcome to the monthly challenge. Septeber is here and time to start working on Autumn/Fall activities. The Autumn Challenge is a fun way to keep track of your monthly weight loss while gaining and giving support to other bandsters.

Copy and post the template below and fill in the information that you are comfortable sharing on Saturday September 1st the come back every Saturday on the 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th and post your updated weight. I will keep track of the weights to get a table listing everyone's results on the following weekend.

Good luck to everyone and remember this isn't a contest it's a challenge and you are a winner no matter how much you lose.

The first three items are required all others are recommended, but the last one is the most fun. If you are new to our monthly challenger please leave a short introduction.

Dietary goal for September~Reduce carbs to under 100 grams a day

Exercise goal for September~Have at least 6 worksouts that are an hour or more

Personal goal for September~Take time to really enjoy Autumn because it's my favorite time of year

Dietary goal for September~ No Snacks between meals - one snack after supper

Exercise goal for September~ Get back to the gym on a regular basis (summer has been hard)

Personal goal for September~ Get some of that stuff done around the house that I put off all summer.... before the snow flies!

Dietary goal for September~still pre-op and I am now more worried about gulping liquids than small bites/chewing

Exercise goal for September~maintain 5 days of workouts per week

Personal goal for September~survive pre-op; prepare home for recovery time (laundry all done up, fall cleaning done, post-op shopping done)

Total weight loss since banding/pre op diet~ haven't started pre-op.. down 18 total tho

Dietary goal for September~ Getting the suggested 70 grams of Protein.

Exercise goal for September~ 5 days a week at the gym, I currently do 2-3.

Personal goal for September~ To successfully juggle, family, work, school, and the gym.

Total weight loss since banding/pre op diet~ 23.8 pounds since my pre op diet.

What is your favorite Fall Activity?~ Halloween! Last year it was canceled due to a freak October snowstorm that left us without power for over a week!

Personal goal for September~ make healthy grocery shopping a habit(and enjoyable)to whereas I don't have to dread grocery shopping due to all the reading of labels and being apprehensive about every single item.

What is your favorite Fall Activity?~ I just love how cozy Fall is. All the beautiful colors, the leaves, family gatherings just the LOVE of the fall season.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

      Woohoo! I have 7 more days till surgery, So far I am already down a total of 20lbs since I started this journey.
