Ugh, What Did I Do Now?!

Recommended Posts

Okay friends, I would like your input.

I'm about 14 weeks post-op. I had been walking or jogging 2-4 miles a day and decided on Monday to start alternating an Insanity work-out every other day. Well, apparently I hadn't used those muscles in forever because of course, my whole body is sore.

Starting Tuesday though, mid-day, I began having pain in my stomach. Not abdomen, but stomach. Also pain/soreness around my port area. I haven't taken it too seriously because to be honest, my whole body hurts. My abs and ribs are sore from all of the jumping and bending.

Last night, I got four bites into dinner and got stuck. I've been pretty good lately at taking small bites and chewing thoroughly; I don't think the stuck episode was due to my error. I have 6 cc's in my 11 cc band and think I'm finally in the green zone.

The pain is worse when I sit down, and is about 2 inches above my belly button. It's a dull ache to constant pain. Not - double over pain - but definitely an unwelcomed nuisance. I put a call into my doctors nurse for her opinion, but had to leave a message.

Has anyone else experienced this before? I am pretty sure it's from over-activity and my big workout (it was 57 minutes of non-stop go go go), but the pain coupled with the unusual stuck episode makes me wonder if I did something to somewhere!

I'm going back to liquids for today to see if that helps.

Going back on liquids is a good idea. Let us know when the nurse calls you.

I'm not a doctor, but if I had to guess, you strained your abdominal muscles. Being as the port is sewn into those muscles it makes sense you'd have pain.

Liquids is a good idea for sure. If it's resolved in 24-48 hours, I'd call your doc for their opinion.

I talked with the nurse who was filling in for my normal nurse. She will talk to the doctor first thing tomorrow that's filling in for my doctor (always my timing, when everyone is out of town!). She said best case it's a pulled muscle and will heal. Bad case it's a torn suture into my port area. Worst case, the band has slipped. She will run it past the surgeon in the morning and see if I need to come in, have some diagnostic testing done, or ride it out. Stick to liquids until tomorrow and no working out until I hear back from her. So we'll see!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
