Doctors Office And Healthy Eating.

Recommended Posts

I don't think I'm much different than most of you here.

What I've learned is healthy eating + exercise= a healthy life an lifestyle.

Well, my lifestyle sucked as I ate everything and no exercise. Result, obesity and WLS.

Since WLS I've learned I have to eat the GOOD food and exercise. Simple.

Now I'm sitting here n a Doctora office waiting on my wife to have a procedure done. It's just after lunch and ie noticed every person working I the office coming in carrying a bag of fast food and 44oz soda.

Should our health professionals be more informative in diet and exercise.

I heard on TV most doctors only have 1 class for 1 semester on diet and the nutritional value of foods.

As someone who works in a hospital.... It's tough because an employer can't mandate what employees eat... only WHERE they do it.

There are more docs than you can imaging that smoke... drink more than anyone should and have other extreme vices.

Perhaps if you mention it to the physician they may address the staff traipsing through the waiting room. We had a big no no when techs were walking food past patients who were fasting. They had to go the back way.

Unfortunately, you can't discriminate only on the flaws/vices you can see ... the most put together perfect on the outside people often have the worst habits in private.

I understand where you are coming from though. I would not go to a sloppy, grossly overweight doc who reeks of ciggies. Nor would I go to a hair dresser with sloppy whacked hair on her own head!!

Great post Rhonda.

My wife had surgery a couple years ago. The doctor told me to go eat lunch as it'll be 4-5 hour surgery. The hospital had a food court that would rival any malls food court. McD's, pizza Hut, Jalisco Taco's, Subway. I was shocked.

I guess the hospital is investing in the future. Eat that stuff and you need a new heart valve ore something.

I'm so glad you posted this! I have just recently been disappointed by viewing such things as well. For example, yesterday I went to a clinic for my EKG, bloodwork, etc. As I approached the very nice woman at the counter I noticed next to her computer a bag of chocolate chip Cookies and a Starbucks coffee. She was very sweet, and she was morbidly obese. As I handed her my chart she said "Oh, you are getting the lapband! That is wonderful! I had that done a year ago!"

Needless to say, I was very surprised (Deer in the Headlights surprised).....and to be honest, somewhat disappointed. My DH said "Honey, you never know...she may have lost 150 pounds". Perhaps food addiction is simply that and there are those that are unable to change such habits such as eating junk food in the middle of the day. Believe me, I am a compassionate person in regards to such things. I just think it would be more appropriate in a medical setting to not have junk food out in plain site for people like "me" to see. Just my two cents..... :P

At the state office park I saw a pregnant staff from the kid's health insurance program out smoking every day!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
