Green Zone?

Recommended Posts

To me the *green zone* is when you eat a 1/2 cup meal or less and feel full...being sure to get your Protein first......with out getting stuck.......its a heavenly place we all want to be in....

Yup. Mine is when I can wake up and have my coffee, and that will be the only thing I'm really hungry for until lunch time. Then I eat a half cup of nutritious food for lunch, and I'm not hungry again until dinner (where I eat another half cup.) No Snacks between meals, and no food after dinner around 7pm. Two small meals, no nagging hunger. It'll probably be different for most folks, but that's my version.

To oversimplify it, "yellow" means you're hungry between small meals and need another fill. "red" means you're overfilled and the plumbing is blocked so you can't get things down or have heartburn. Green means you're just right - no nagging hunger and losing weight. Hope this helps.

D.

Thanks so much.

I've only had one fill since op and still working out what I can and can't eat.

Definitly not in the green zone yet.

Sounds like a good spot to be in.

Hello I got my band on June 15th and have only had 1 fill and I am getting discouraged. Most of the time I don't even notice I have a band and have to rely on my own self control which is not good which is why I got the band in the first place. How many fills does it normally take to get to the green zone? I am no where near eating 1/2 cup of food and feeling satisfied. Just wanted to get feed back since I am very unhappy with the band so far. I am only down 20lbs including both post and pre surgery. Thanks so much and enjoy reading everyone's success stories.

Green zone to me now means three nutritious meals about 1/2 cup, not hungry in between meals. Water and low cal drinks go down fine and keep me satisfied. No stuck episodes just smooth eating, regular exercise, and steady weight loss. Overall feeling good...no reflux or regurgitating, burping to a minimal. I enjoy my meals in green zone!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
