KimBellaMoir 0 Posted August 28, 2012 I just had my surgery yesterday, I feel like a elephant is sitting on my chest. I don't know if it is the tightness of the band from swelling or the gas. I will say I was pleasantly surprised and pleased to find out I only have one scar I will have to be concerned about, the other is in my belly button. When will the tightness go away?. When does the gas they put in you go away I am. Pretty sure that's we're most of the discomfort is coming from I am a little short of breath., so I'm doing my breathing exercise. Just very uncomfortable
smc4 3 Posted August 28, 2012 I had my surgery done on the 23rd, I have that same feeling in my chest. It is alot better today. Even though it hurts to sit up, just try to a little bit, may relieve the pain.
A New New Dawn 1,695 Posted August 28, 2012 You want to get moving around (as tolerated) to help move some of that gas out and help your recovery along. Also, take the pain meds they gave you too if it is that bothersome. Glad you are doing your breathing exercise, that is important! Best of luck (this will pass soon)

Just very uncomfortable That dang gas lasts a long time and goes to all different sorts of uncomfortable hurtful places if you don't get it gone. Try and walk, I'll I wanted to do was sleep and I regret it. 5 days post-op and still suffering with gas. I'm happy to report I had a BM on yesterday and today. I know too much information but I'm glad my body is trying to get back to normal. I can't wait to be 1 month post-op!
Iamtiffers 9 Posted August 28, 2012 I felt incredibly uncomfortable after surgery. They even did an upper gi to check my band on day 5 because I was hurting so much. We figured out it was swelling, day 9 I started feeling amazing and have been feeling better since then! I was told to relax and let my body heal! Good Luck!
