Feeling Good Again

Recommended Posts

Ok- so I am 10 days post op and I finally got my color back and feel better. I was really worried because I usually bounce right back from things, but not this surgery. I am feeling hopeful now and my energy has returned. Still on liquid diet and doing great! I kind of like this muscle milk. Ha ha! Thank you to everyone for your kind words and support!

Thanks Goodness, I'm Day 5 post-op and I think I was hit by a truck! LOL Not really getting better by the day biggest complaint is the sore abdomen and it's not too sore today. I'm a bit more hungry but the liquid shakes seem to knock the hunger out. Thursday I can add the mushies! I can't wait!

It took me at least 7 days post-op to begin to feel somewhat normal. For me, it was the medications, anesthesia, anti-biotics they poured into my body. I know I was in shock for a week. Maybe it's necessary but I really never want to go back there again.

I had my gb out on 6/29 and breezed through. I found this much harder. I'm 17 days PO now and feel 100% better. Hang in there.

Pennie 8/10.

I was unprepared for the post-op experience and feared I had made a big mistake. I hugged a heating pad for a week after the surgery, and cursed everyone who told me it would be a breeze. Thankfully it passed soon enough. And seeing the weight come off makes it SO worth it!

I so feel you, days 1-3 I was like OMG you actually did this to yourself! I'm now day 5 post op and it's getting better. I have a lot of gas in my back. I took a 15 minute walk and although I didn't pass the gas at least I got it to move out of my back! I'll walk again when I get home I can't help it I have been checking the scale and I'm down 6 lbs since last week! I know it's only liquid diet/post surgery but it does help get me through the day!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
