Recommended Posts

I was just banded yesterday, everything looks great, I feel great, he said as long as I can keep Water down I can go to full liquids today, my question is becauset his will be my foods for the next few weeks, what ideas do others have. I have search online, but can't seem to find any? Thank you

Your surgeon did not give you any information about the liquid diet you are supposed to follow during the post-op stage??? Amazing...

You need to be drinking Protein shakes as a temporary Meal Replacement while your stomach heals. There are many options...but the best Protein choice will be shakes which contain 100% whey isolate protein...still the gold standard for bariatric patients.

You should be aware of what your daily goal for protein is, and strive to reach it every day. Don't forget about having your "free fluids" also, such as SF/FF popsicles, Crystal Lite, Decaf tea, and yes, also Water.

There should be threads on this topic to research on this site. You likely still have many questions, so come back to the forum and ask them. This is an excellent community of knowledgeable individuals who are willing to share their their best practices.

I was banded almost 9 months ago. My surgeon's office said Clear Liquids for a week. Don't worry about the Protein intake for now until you are on the solid phase. Only see thru liquids like broth, tea, gatorate, diluted fruit juice, crystal light, sf Jello, sf popsicles . NO Water. You need a little bit of calories in you for strength.

The best thing to do is follow your Drs. orders. Good luck to you on this journey.

Also I forgot to mention you have to keep track of your Fluid intake for a few days. There's a specific amount that you have to drink in an hour. I believe is 2oz every 15 minutes.

I posted in here to try and get some postitive feedback as far as other creative ideas, yes I did get a "generic" menu post op from my physician. Looking for other suggestions from some that have already been down this road apparently people don't want to be bothered?? I am starting to find this the trend along the way of the board.

Hi D --

I got banded the same day as you -- I have found chamomile tea, coconut Water, and vegetable broth are my three favorites so far.

Good luck to you!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
