BigDennis 236 Posted August 28, 2012 CG, have you experienced any other symptoms of menopause? It is kind of interesting you are only experiencing these episodes at night, but they definitely fit the description of hot flashes. According to the experts, menopause actually has a wide starting range, but can usually be expected in the age range of 42–58.An early menopause can be related to cigarette smoking, higher body mass index, racial and ethnic factors, illnesses, chemotherapy, radiation and the surgical removal of the ovaries, with or without the removal of the uterus. Can you say TMI?! 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this

It's like you are melting from the inside out! Stay Cool! is it a hot flash? does that mean my TOM will stop soon? as hub is ready to install me battering ram in the house to block my crazy ass mood swings 1 TKW reacted to this
BigDennis 236 Posted August 28, 2012 One battering ram will not be enough! Been there done that, lived through it, and actually got the T-shirt too! It's hard to say exactly when your TOM will stop, but it sounds like you are definitely in the transition. While you are going through the change, keep the hubs away from all tactical rifles and shotguns! LOL 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this

Sojourner 2,446 Posted August 28, 2012 Yes, this definitely does read like the hot flashes associated with menopause. I remember waking up at night and the only thing which soothed me was a cool wash cloth to my forehead and then completely brush over the rest of my skin. The other great lifesaver was eating popsicles, yes even in the middle of the night, because they were like cooling me from the inside out. How fortunate that SF popsicles are allowed on the bandster diet! By the age of 46 I was completely through menopause...but I remember it well for how I would even have hot flashes during the day and within minutes my skin was flushed and red, and my hair was plastered to my scalp because of the perspiration. And yes, my husband learned his strategies to keep me from getting on his case for no legitimate reason. It doesn't last forever...take a day at a time. And enjoy those popsicles... 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
jen_1381 446 Posted August 28, 2012 I went through a pseudo-menopause after I had a hysterectomy and then a year and a half later stopped my Hormone Replacement Therapy. Hot flashes at 28!! No fun. I feel for you. Luckily, my symptoms only lasted a few weeks. I feel for ya As for the mood swings...I like to think I never had them...just don't ask my husband!! 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
☠carolinagirl☠ 18,721 Posted August 28, 2012 wow, i am kinda excited.......possible hot flash........should i get those menopause meds they show on tv or just go with the flow for now?
jen_1381 446 Posted August 28, 2012 I would check with your PCP or GYN. I see a DO (doctor of osteopath) as my PCP, and she gave me some tips for how to manage the symptoms that didn't involve actual medication. I went off the HRT because the estrogen increases your risk of breast cancer, and not that I'm paranoid or a hypochondriac, but breast cancer was the last thing I wanted to deal with after having to have a hysterectomy. TKW 501 Posted August 28, 2012 LOL... just go with the flow. My symtoms were mild. Haven't had my TOM in 3 years. Well not exactly true, 1 time in 3 years and that was about 6 months ago. Don't miss it! 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
