What's Wrong With Me

Recommended Posts

hi everyone, i just dont understand how it is that i can still be able to eat whatever when alot of others can't, i had lapband w/ plication on 7-25-11, i have 6.25cc in my band, i am still able to eat bread (i only eat it occasionally), salads, and chicken with no problems, i have some friends who are having trouble keeping anything down with less cc's in their band, is there something wrong with me, should i be having trouble with these things, i would love to hear some feedback, thanks

The lapband is designed to keep you full not restrict what you can eat. If you can eat 1 cup of food and not feel hungry for 3-4 hours after eating, then its doing its job.

No, there's absolutely nothing wrong with you. The band is not supposed to restrict what types of food you eat. In fact it's not supposed to restrict your food intake at all. Some people do have issues with certain foods, but a lot can still eat anything.

There is nothing the matter with you that you can continue to eat foods without negative consequences. Each of us are individuals, and as such some will have difficulties tolerating questionable foods, while others will not. No two bandsters will have identical experiences through their weight loss journey.

Some people want their bands too tight believing that a tighter band will facilitate their waiting longer between meals to become hungry.

I have only 3.5cc of Fluid in my band, and really need to remain aware of what I'm doing as I eat, otherwise it would be easy for food to get stuck. From what I've read, that's a relatively small amount of Fluid in a band, but I don't realistically believe that I should have more fluid added.

The important understanding to maintain is that just because you can eat those foods (i.e. bread) does not mean that you should. The bandster diet rules still apply.

I too had lap band with plication, just about exactly a year ago. I have approximately the same fill as you, maybe even more (I don't know the exact exact amount) and I am still able to eat everything, including bread, as long as I chew uniformly and slowly. I have yet to find a food I "can't eat" which is exactly what I wanted from the surgery. My doctor says we shouldn't be striving to NOT be able to eat certain foods..and another of my nurses favorite sayings is also, "Just because you CAN eat it, doesn't mean you should..." Sigh... :)

Good luck!

Great topic and good advice. I am new to the journey -8 weeks out and had my first fill on Monday, 8/27. My surgery was 7/5/12. My first fill was a little less than 1 cc. I had liquids all day yesterday and onto pureed and food re-introduction today. I am curious to find out if I feel more restriction on only 1 cc.

I had my surgery on 8-24 and don't get my first fill for A month so I'm wondering the people who can't eat bread is it ALL breads like croissants and muffins as well as like sandwich breads ?

I know of people who have lost 100 lbs and have never had a fill. So everyone is different, plus I agree with "just b/c you can, doesn't mean you should".

my friend sojo and my bud maddys were right on......just because you can overeat, does not mean you should.

i was banded w/plication june 6 and have not have a fill. i think if i tried, i could eat more than a cup of food at at time but why would i want to go back to doing what i did before and get myself to where i needed lap band surgery? Portion Control and eating healthy and lean Proteins is key. you are doing wonderful it seems. keep it up

I am almost 2 years out and my last appointment with my dr. we discussed my eating habits and I told him everything I was eating and he said that I should be able to eat everything with the band. My only problem is when I do eat fast I will throw up. And it is usually when I let myself get too hungry. I think I have about 6 ccs in my band. I have not had a fill since March. I am maintaining my weight, almost at my goal another 5 lbs and I will be there. But I am fine if I don't make it. I have lost 130 lbs. wear a size 12. Never thought I could do it. Somedays I do overeat but it is a horrible feeling. Good luck to all.

The biggest problem I have with bread is that its dry. I can tolerate crackers but sandwiches and cake are a no go.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
