I've only been banded for 5 weeks. I have lost nearly 49 lbs with the loss included in the preop diet. I can see times when my old habits will come back if I'm not careful. I try to be vwry aware of myself and try to resist things it is hard and I'm still on the thrill of the loss. But remember that feeling of losing all that weight and use it to push yourself to start again. Get a fill or whatever you need to do to jumpstart yourself. You went through a great deal to get your helper (the band). It would be a shame to lose that now. We all have issues we need to work through use your friends and us for suppo

There has only been one inspirational reply to this. Let me explain. I have lost no weight, it has been 4 months, i have lost no inches, I never said i was having it removed , and i only had to do liquids for a week before and two weeks after. I go every month for a fill Oct 1st will be my 3rd. Thank you to the one inspirational person who made me feel like i could do it!

Don't give up. I have wanted to have mine removed at times too, but only if absolutely necessary, I have nightmares about having surgery, I sure won't have it unless necessary. Are you exercising? I know it's hard. I am still struggling. I had my band 3/29/06 and still have 35 lbs to lose. I hope you are feeling better and reconsidering. I can't stick to a diet for more than 2 1/2 days then I fall off the wagon and feel like giving up.

i was banded in sep of 2011. I have to say im in the same boat. i went from 209 down to 183 and stayed there for a while. i started gaining again over the last 4 months and am now back up to 193. i cant go any tighter on my band then i already am. i tried' date=' but Water wouldnt even go down. im starting to feel like i should of went with the bypass instead of the band. sucks even worse that i paid cash for the whole thing. the whole point of this surgery was so i dont have to count calories. anyone can lose massive amounts of weight counting calories, but its such a hassle. plus working 10 to 12 hours 5 to 6 days a week doesnt help.

im making bad food choices. bottom line. the band doesnt exactly help you make good food choices. i never had a sweet tooth until after the surgery. i think i might go to the doctor and have the band emptied. the only good thing about my band is that i havent eaten bread in almost a year. Thats probably where all the weight loss came in. But i can do that on my own without the band. other then that, my diet has been super unhealthy. i never feel full. just uncomfortable and wanting to throw up to get rid of the feeling. maybe i have the band too tight.

im so mad i went with the band instead of the bypass.

You are probably still too tight! If solid Protein won't stay down you need a tiny bit taken out!!! I am finally in the green & only have 3 ccs in an 11cc band. I can 3-4 hours without hunger & I'm satisfied with 1 cup of food. No pbs, no pain. Good luck!

I totally understand what you are talking about. I too am addicted to food. I have always been overweight. I was a fat baby, fat kid, fat teen and now a fat adult. I know my relationship with food isn't healthy and I am presently seeking counseling with regards to this. However, I see little to no change. I lost about 100 pounds but have put back on 20. I have had to have my band emptied out several times due to illness. I still throw up often, usually because I eat too much, too fast. I don't know what full means but I totally understand "feeling like you are starved too death". I want soooo much to get it back off. My self-esteem is suffering terribly. I don't feel like dressing up because my clothes are tight again. I HATE IT AND I HATE MYSELF BECAUSE I CAN'T GET IT TOGETHER AGAIN. What can people like us do to work through this problem and overcome this obstacle? We deserve to be happy, content and at peace with ourselves - even if that means we aren't 120 pound beauty queen. Do you have ideas???

Jennypenny, I feel your pain and I can totally relate. I was banded 9/2011. I lost all my weight because of the Atkins diet, not due to the band. I was diagnosed with kidney stones in March and was told my high Protein diet was probably the cause. Everything I eat healthy gets stuck now. I dont know if I have gained weight back or not. I dont weigh myself anymore. I have been throwing up alot, can not take my pills, and am so totally frustrated that I too have considered having the band removed. I keep telling myself this is a phase and it will pass. I just keep putting one foot in front of the other and hope for the best. I have had several fills, and suspect I need an unfill, but I just cant bring myself to have an unfill. Good luck to you!

Ok, I think I get it. I think I know what is going on with you because we are the same! I was banded 10/2011. I have been successful but I keep hitting the wall with one problem: SUGAR. when I let it enter my life, all hell breaks loose and I lose all control. some of us really need to be aware of sugar and how destructive it is.

I am just coming out of a binge (nothing like what that word used to mean) of eating. I had started "enjoying" chocolate way too much. I even contemplated buying a Hostess cupcake at the gas station! this is not who I want to be.

I finally got the nerve to weigh myself and found that I had indeed gained 7 lbs. I was a little relieved as I felt much worse. I started to think of this forum and what I had seen others do to get back on track. I went back to liquids, I have been drinking Protein shakes for a week now. I lost 9lbs in that week and I again feel level. I am ready to go back to regular eating because I strongly feel that is important. the program I have learned to live in includes food, regular foods. the foods I now eat are not "fast", high fat, high carb. I had decided last fall that I was going to concentrate on healthy foods and that's what I am going to do! I make sure to communicate this with others so that the commitment is clear. I want to be accountable to me and those I care about.

I never want to go back to 239, never. I never want to walk down the street feeling so fat and out of breath, do you! get back on track, keep us informed day by day.

get outside and walk. do something new for yourself. you want to be healthy.

the band is a tool that can help us but, we are the ones who have to do the work. be gentle with yourself, even 1 lb is progress. we are not on a diet, we are in a "new" life. start visualizing yourself as that healthy person, quit fighting it.

The Band isnt magic...The weight just dont come off by itsself! The band is only a tool! With your commitment it can be your best friend!

I suggest go get a fill and stay on track with your appointments. If your doctor gets on you then he just does! I think we all feel a lil down on ourselves at times when we dont get to that spot on the scale. Its not all about a number! Its about being healthy and active! I dont recall you mentioning about exercising...Its a must too sweety! Dont make a rush decision on something that you worked for hard to get! Take some time and really think! I dont know how long you have been a member of this board but its the best thing EVER! The people here are so supportive and there is a TON on information!

Like someone else mentioned in an early post if things are coming back up you are eating too fast or taking too big of bites! You have to learn a whole new way of eating...and YOU have to listen to your body and your band!

Its possible! Dont give up!

Start over tomorrow!

I believe YOU can DO IT!

If I read your post correctly you said you lost 100 lbs, and gained 20. that puts you at a loss of 80 lbs. Did I read this right?

there are many times in the process that we get to a slow down, blockage, plateau. we are all addicted to eating food, that's why we are here! just because we are addicted does not mean we have to give in to it!

I am worried about both of these people and would like to pray for strength for them. this is way too important to give up. I think we all feel alone and lost many times through this process but, that's not true. we all are on this forum to give support to one another. take the support and continue on, both of you.

I think we also have put a time frame on the amount of time we have to "complete" this weight loss. this has to be a life long road we follow now. we can do this!

Hi, Im new to this site :) Im having problems myself getting the weight off. I had surgery 7/17/11. I got 60 pounds off and i feel like I have gained about half back. Im not eating anything Im not suppose to other than some fried shrimp I had on vacation. I had birthday cake one time. I do try and excerise when I can which I know its not enough but I eat nothing and sometimes I dont want to eat which is usually at supper time. I know this is a tool but a person that doesnt consume bread, Pasta, rice no cokes , candy potatoes just eat meat and salads and veggies and the dont LOSE weight??? I just dont get it. I do have a thyroid problem and im on medication for it but still Im not losing anything at all. I havent lost any weight in 6 months. I feel terrible-I went thru all this and wonder if I should have had gastric done. I seen earlier a person say she started back on shakes, what kind did you go back on? Any help would be appreciated :) I dont want to give up I want this to happen-just kinda sad about it atm

I to have had so many ups and downs on the scale. Some not my fault due to a lovley faulty band. And others my fault because I gave up on myself. :(... but guess what? I still have my band! Which means I gotta kick myself in the butt sometimes to jump start my progress.

I wish I had an awesome success story like some of the people on here that have truly kicked this into gear and lost a huge amount of weight in a short amount of time.

But I'm me and I have my own journey.. we all have bands but we are all diffrent. Diffrent sizes, diffrent shapes, diffrent metabolisms its going to work diffrent for everyone. I am down 135 lbs but its taken me 5 years to get here. I've been here before and messed up and gained 50 back with fills three times! It happens but don't give up! Each and Every pound lost is a little bit of life you've given yourself back. Alittle closer to easier breathing, easier exercising, great clothes, having children, enjoying life! I'm 25 and truly without my band I believe I would have already suffered from a heart attack. I was 429 before my surgery with a bmi of 71. It has given me a new lease on life even if it lets me down sometimes or I stray from what I should be eating. You can always come back to it!

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
