Carbonated Drinks

Recommended Posts

Nope, not worth it. I've had a couple of tiny sips when my husband had a carbonated beverage, and it just doesn't feel "right". Just not something I'm willing to take a chance on.

Do me a favor...if there is one single thing you should never do, it is to pick up another "soda" - ever! Diet or not...no you will not make your pouch "explode", however it can sabotadge all you have worked for. It expands your pouch and "opens you up"...essentially killing your restriction.

Trust me, it is NOT WORTH IT!

I drink a can of diet mt dew almost every day. Only one. There is less carbonation in diet mt dew

Also it was advised when I was banded 6yrs ago that if pills got stuck that u could drink some coke the carbonation pushes the pills through. Not the whole can

Yeah, don't do that.

I was soda free for over two years after surgery. Then one day, I took a little sippy. Then another.

In the past year I've gone from 210 (I was 350 prior to surgery) back up to 240. My food diet hasn't really changed. But guess what has? Drinking 2-3 sodas a day (okay, and my exercising has slacked but I'm getting back on that). I nixed soda again as of two days ago. Day one and two were tough. This morning, I'm golden and feel a lot better with just Water.

Soda = devil. And don't sub it with Vitamin Water or sweet tea. Drinking your calories is literally the worst thing you can do.

Your band or stomach or whatever they tell you will not explode, implode or anything similar. But it will seriously backtrack you. Don't bother. Trust me on that.

Does anyone ever take a chance and drink carbonated drinks?

seems to me, we all through so much to get this surgery.--the pre ops, insurance waiting to approve, the liquid pre and post ops and such......they give us a short (to do list) in regards to what to do and what we shouldnt do). why take a chance to go against what you have worked for?

sure some drink soda and its fine. but the dr's say not too for the carbonation aspect. that is a decision only you can make. will it only be one soda? will someone move on to one big mac or one snickers bar etc.....

not saying you will but why tempt something the dr's say not too?

Nope, not a sip. Was my biggest empty calorie provider but none in over two years. I drink a lot of Crystal Light-since the band, plain Water has a metallic taste. Asked my dietitian about it and she said its not unusual to have that problem.

I completely agree. I drank Dt soda and my stomach didn't explode so I thought thIs was a walk in the park. Three years out and only lost ten pounds after gaining back.

They have you these rules and guidelines for a reason.... please do not make the mistakes I did. Follow what they tell you. I an back in track and will not be "smarter" then my. Gastric team again .....

Went to the local stock car races with hubby and friends. Of course i don't drink beer, but tried one of the Mike's Lemonades - holy smokes - only drank about 1/3 of it - had gas like i've never had gas before and it hurt like crazy. Stomach swelled and i played a musical symphony for hubby all the way home. The was the first carbonation i've had since i was banded and will definitely be the last.

I accidentally drank carbonated drink once. I was at a baby shower and was sucking down the punch. I got bloated and was miserable beyond discription. I found out ginger ale was in the punch. It took about 12 hours for me to be comfortabel again. Some of the fizz was out since it was mixed with other stuff but it still had enough that I know that I will NEVER drink carbonated drinks. Now I ask before drinking punch.

Crystal light is my savior. I tried the diet Hawaiin Punch packets but tired of that really quickly. I drink the Decaf iced tea, and can even tolerate it in lukewarm Water. Pop just doesn't sound good anymore, it never really did quench my thirst.
