I went to true results Houston in the medical center. I was banded on 12/14/11 by doctor hollis. They are great before the surgery and more importantly with the after care. I still go once a month to get checked out and filled up if necessary. If you have any questions just ask.

Ew! I don't have to do a liquid diet. I'm on 2 Protein shakes a day and 1 meal (8oz lean meat, 1cup veggies, and 1 cup fruit). I hope the liquid post op isn't too bad. Lol

You are lucky. I had to do two weeks pre op full liquids. and 48 hours pre op full Clear Liquids. bleh, I think i had a total of 500 calories between yesterday and today. But surgery is in about 16 hours and I've lost 15 lbs, so i'd say in the end it has been worth it

My goodness! If you can make it through that without the band, then I'm sure you'll be perfectly fine with it! Good luck tomorrow! I'll be watching for updates!

Oh yeah, I am Lizzy and I am from Arkansas, I am 23 - med student - needing to lose about 85lbs. I love music and hangin out with friends!

Add me as a friend if you want?

Hi Lizzy, Welcome to LBT! We're all friends here, so join the party. I'm getting banded Oct 15. The people on this forum have taught me a lot about the ins & outs of the band.

Best wishes on your journey!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
