went on vacation for three weeks I was so scared that I would gain weight. I will admit I did have a few stuck incidents because I eat dinner at friends homes and did not want to tell them about my band. I had to throw up a few times also because of not chewing enough. On the whole it was not to bad I did lose three pounds on my journey but I need to be more carful. I am glad to be home so that I can cook my own meals. I am usually a stronger person but eating out for three weeks was difficult.

Anyway just thought I would share it might help other people to plan better than I did. I had my band put on May 24th. God Bless

You lost 3 pounds- I think that's great. You just need to be a little more careful about what and how you eat. I think you did fine.

Not eating at home is one of the biggest challenges for a bandster. Try to remember the band is a tool... And if you don't use it properly it will not work. Eating out and or at friends homes can work if you maintain Portion Control. If you are worried about it just quietly tell your friend you are dieting or watching your calorie intake and portions so while you know her cooking is delicious you may not eat as much as she is planning for. Problem solved.

Congratulations on managing to lose weight on vacation...not matter how much. That's wonderful.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
