Weight Loss, Slowly But Surely

Recommended Posts

So, as of post-op Day 6, I had managed to lose 15 pds. Yes, I know, that's not bad. Of course, all along I've tried to prepare myself in that the weight would start slowing down once I started eating a little more normal, and walking. I started walking about 2 days ago, and to my surprise (though it shouldn't be), I haven't lost anything in 2 days : ( Yes, I know, I know. I didn't gain it all in 1 week, but I have to admit, it felt good seeing the scale go down & down each day. So, I went ahead & measured myself. Thank goodness, it looks like I lost an inch in my waist, thighs, calves & boobs.

Ok, as long as it keeps going down, I will settle down.

Great job! I've lost 42 pounds in 4.5 months. I've hit a plateau several times. I track everything I eat on myfitnesspal.com, workout 5-6 days a week, and make sure I take my multi and Calcium. It'll pick back up soon! :) Good luck!

Your doing it the right way!I had my surgery may 9th in april my weight was 369.Today it's 278 before anyone says great job it has taken a toll on my health! Im on potassium and go for blood work tuesday if it's no better i get a stay in the hospital. It's not that i dont want to eat, it's after a half cup i get sick..Dr says it's a mental thing..What i've started to do is eat 6 times a day that gets me up to 800-1000 calories a day.The good thing is my blood pressure has not been this good since my 20's and i feel a whole lot better. While there have been set backs i'd have the surgery again!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
