I'm working on a revision too. I also want the sleeve. Why'd you change your mind? How long have you had your band? I'm not having much success with the band, and some other issue, so my doctor isn't very happy with the band for me. It was his suggestion (much to my surprise!) but I'm ok with it...

IMO, I'm doing incredibly well, I am currently 3 months post op & down 73lbs, I have another 64lbs till I reach my initial goal of 155lbs (BMI 25). There several reasons I went the direction I did. The first obstacle I ran into was fills. Where I live the only place to get filled was going to cost 350 a visit. Plus I'm a truck driver so just getting to a place to get filled was going to be tough. Then as I was doing more investigating I saw a lot of surgeons advertising band to sleeve revisions, which kinda scared me. My thought was if they're advertising it, it's happening too much for me to risk. So since it seemed most revisions were going to te sleeve I looked into doing that. The more I investigated it the more I liked it. I looked into the band, the sleeve, & sleeve plication. Then I decided the sleeve was for me. RNY was never an option for me as the only 2 people I know that had it done had miserable recoveries.

Now I float around all 4 WLS boards trying to learn as much as I can.

Btw, Dr Garcia is a good choice if you decide to go this route. He wasn't my surgeon, but there are many of his patients on Vertical Sleeve Talk that sing his praises quite often.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
