Should I go to GNC or the grocery store? I kind of want something premade.... Any suggestions? Also what kind I Vitamins should I take? I know a chewable Calcium and chewable Multivitamin. Flinstones? Any advice would help thank you! I get banded the 6th eeeee soo excited!

Personally, if you have a Sam's Club or costco, the Vitamins are MUCH cheaper. I am using the gummy vitamins and they taste good actually. I don't like gritty chewable vitamins but that is my preference.

Also, you may want to buy some individual Protein drinks and find which ones you like now. Personally, I didn't care for the premade so I use Carnation Instant Breakfast (no sugar added - comes in blue box). I add 2 1/2 T of powdered non-fat milk (for extra protein) and 1 c. of skim milk. I put it in my blender w/ ice and it is very tasty (and filling).

Good luck to you!

Everyone has their own preference when it comes to Protein shakes. I like Adkins Advantage for premade and unjury for powder.

As for Vitamins I take EcoDrink every day, its a powder you mix with Water so its liquid. I get it at Sams. My nutritionist appoved it for me. I don't like the Gummy ones.

I was told to take Centrum chewables by my surgeon. I did try the opurity band specific Vitamins, but found that they were too sweet. I was told no gummy vitamins because they did not have all the necessary nutrients. I have also heard of others using flintstones complete.

As for ready to drink, I would suggest premier nutrition from costco or sam's club.

I've been enjoying the Premier Protein shakes, you can get them at Sam's or costco.

For Vitamins I have a wide combination of things. I have the EcoDrinks as well as some similar drink mixes from Celebrate. Also got some chewable vitamins from Celebrate. I got a sheet from my nutritionist with the recommended dosage of things post OP, the drinks and celebrate items are all almost exactly half of everything on the list. Btw, Celebrate has a sample pack on their site, its $3 (free shipping on the sample pack if bought alone) but comes with a $3 coupon code. It had probably twenty samples in it!

I take a children's Gummy Vitamin. As far as the Protein Shakes, everyone has to find one that they enjoy. I tried the Protein powders and several different kinds of premade. I like the Boost rich chocolate myself. I would suggest trying different ones before stocking up because you need to find one that you really like. Not just for the pre/post op but you will have to drink these after each fill so it has to be a taste that you find yummy.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
