I am struggling too. Ive had the band for 6 months and havent lost the weight i want to lose. What i am starting to do now is eat 6 small meals instead of 3. My meals usually consist of chicken topped with a little bit of cheese or baked fish with a vegetable or a salad. If i am hungry a couple hours later i would have cut up fruit or a yogurt. I also dont eat breakfast which i found out can cause you to gain weight so now i either have a packet of instant oatmeal or grits or a Protein Shake. I am also starting to limit my carb intake and reduce my sugar. Because i wasnt getting that full feeling i was eating larger portions. After going to the doctor for my 3rd fill he told me that my meals should be a 1/2 a cup so i went to Walmart and brought tupperware that was 1/2 cup so that i wouldnt be tempted to eat large portions. He also told me to take 20 min to eat the food and stop after that whether your full or not.

From the first day of solids and every day since then.... 1000 to1200 calories every day . Break it down anyway you like it... For me a typical work day looks like this

Bfast- sugar free instant breakfast w skim milk

10a snack of under 100 calories

lunch 4 oz Protein , 1/2 c veggies, 1/4 c starch

dinner same as lunch portions

evening snack of something light like sugar free Popsicle.

Drink at least 64 oz of Water each day and avoid any and all fried food.

That's all I have done for the last 21 months

Good luck

I eat around 1000 calories a day, give or take a 100 depending on the day.

I stay within that amount calories regardless of when or how often I eat. If it doesn't fit in my daily calorie allowance, I don't eat it.

My meals are always a cup or less of food, no exceptions.

I don't do low carb, it's just not realistic for me. I eat potatoes, Pasta, rice, and bread all the time. It's never hindered my weight loss.

I also am sure to get in a minimum of 60g of Protein every day.

i think everyone is different. i do not like what some people eat (fish for one) so what i eat is different from anyone else. i say you need to eat what you like. but make it very high Protein and lean. eat fresh veggies and fruit. eat things that are good for you. as missy said, drink alot. i am like her, i do not go over 1 cup of food at any giving time (and eat my Protein first).

what i can only offer is no fried, no junk/processed foods (nothing in boxes--alot of salt) no easy slider foods as you want to eat to feel full. and enjoy your food, take your time eating it.

you will do fine. keep us all informed :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
