Lori Voss Green 93 Posted August 22, 2012 I am 2 weeks post op today. I have gained back 2 lbs that I lost. Is this normal? I am still in the soft food stages and I am eating 3 meals a day of a cup of food or less, as instructed.
2muchfun 8,927 Posted August 22, 2012 You should not be concerned with losing weight at this stage. Not until you receive enough fills to give you some restriction should you be concerned. Having a band is no different than going on a diet before the band. Your weight is subject to daily or weekly fluctuations from reactions to types of food, sodium, medications, menstrual cycles etc. The quick weight we gain or lose is usually mostly water/fluids retained by the fat cells in our body. tmf 3 Lori Voss Green, whelden mommy and ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
☠carolinagirl☠ 18,721 Posted August 22, 2012 our bander TMF would advise you not to worry about losing weight the first few weeks after surgery. i would strongly advise the same as in not focusing on weight. you are just recovering from major surgery. your body needs to heal. (even after two weeks). please do not stress over weight loss or gain by getting on the scale at this time. you will drive yourself crazy. keep drinking and doing the mushies etc and then later on, worry about losing weight. i know it is not what you want to hear but it is the truth and most banders go through this. 2 Lori Voss Green and whelden mommy reacted to this
Sojourner 2,446 Posted August 22, 2012 There is a time for healing and a time for loosing...and your primary purpose at this time is to continue to heal. I believe it helps to not become obsessed with your scale...minor fluctuations in weight from day to day are normal, and as tmf shared can be influenced by many different reasons. If you remain compliant with your surgeon's instructions for your diet, the weight will come off. It always helps to empower yourself during times like this when there are concerns about a lack of progress...do what you can to enhance your success...like don't forget to get your exercise in as often as is tolerated within reason following your surgeon's instructions. 3 2muchfun, ☠carolinagirl☠ and Lori Voss Green reacted to this
