sshaeshae19 0 Posted August 22, 2012 Hi, everyone. I'm a lesbian. My gf and I have been considering starting a family soon. Since we are both female, we will be usuing IVF. I'm considering the lapband surgery as a life change before we start our family and to help me get down down below 30BMI to qualify for the IVF. But I'm not sure if the lap band would affect me qualifying for IVF negatively. I'm not sure if anyone can help, but I hope so:-) Thank you,
Rojasanoll 920 Posted August 22, 2012 I don't know but I would check with your insurance provider and ask. If you get stuck paying for either procedure, it's big money especially IVF. Best wishes
elcee 3,342 Posted August 22, 2012 I can't see how or why a lapband would impact on IVF. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
suzeeq67 23 Posted August 22, 2012 First of all, wish you the best of luck starting a family, that's wonderful for you both. Second, I really wouldn't think that a WLS would have any bearing on an insurance companies (does insurance even cover IVF?) decision to provide fertility procedures! As far as a doctor being okay with it, a good one would understand that you have a better chance of becoming pregnant, carrying, and keeping a pregnancy if you have significant weight loss! Go online and research the topic and your insurance and see what is covered. And best of luck to you with your lap band procedure and with making babies!!!
