Can Anyone Tell Me About Your Full Liquid Stage?

Recommended Posts

Was banded Saturday, so this is day 4 for me. I haven't been hungry at all up until this afternoon. My dr said liquids for two full weeks. But that means no yogurt, apple sauce, pudding or Jello either. I'm sure broccoli Soup is a no no if it's not strained too, that's what I am craving. how long did everyone else have to do liquids before the mushy stage? What did it consist of?

Today is my 2nd day of surgery and i have not been feeling hungry as of yet, but my doctor only put me on liquid diet for a week and the mushy solid foods for like 2weeks.

When I was on full liquids I was allowed those things. I had sugar free pudding and applesauce all the time. I ate a lot of runny oatmeal, too.

I was told that if it ran off the back of a spoon easily, I could consider it a full liquid.< /p>

I was on Clear Liquids for 2 weeks then full liquids for 2 weeks. Needless to say by the time I got to mushy food at week 5, I was starving lol.

Thanks ladies. I didn't have any appetite until today. All I want to do is chew! Even something thicker than Water would be nice:( I knew this would be hard, I just have to get my mind together.

im four months post op now but still remember how i cooked up my own Soups. I used beef/chicken broth... onions, salsa,(mild) one potato, small amount of pumpkin. when cooked i blended it down. I never made soup up so that it was thick ... always made sure there was enough Fluid to keep the it liquid. i also added some garlic powder when i poured it into a bowl. i found that while i couldnt have thicker soups i could tolerate more flavour.

I actually made broccoli Soup and put unflavored whey Protein in it to get the protein in and ate it once a day in addition to my shakes. I added extra chicken broth to make it runnier.

I'm on week two and couldn't believe my Dr. put me on canned chicken and fish already. As long as I follow the bites as small as a pencil eraser, then I am fine. Fat free refried Beans and cheese and chicken warmed in the microwave last night for dinner, it was AWESOME!!! They also gave me permission for soft eggs, cheese, and large Pasta.< /p>

J-ello is considered a clear liquid. As I'm told by my surgeon anyway find out if you can do that. It requires chewing. I just had my surgery today and had one; well let's be real it eneded up being a children's spoon of it and I felt full. He also said Italian ices which is a nice treat .. I know every dr is different so if that isn't already on you approved list I would just call and ask if that's okay for you..

What kind of liquids? My doctor said 7 days clear liquids and then 7 days full liquids. I was not allowed yogurt or pudding until day 15. During liquid stages I added Mrs Dash non salt flavorings to first broth and then Tomato or sweet red pepper/tomato Soups. Add before heating so the spices reconstitute. For my doctor liquids were Water, broth, smooth soups like tomato (not blended soups like chicken noodle), and Jello. Sucky but it's only a couple weeks.

Today (day17) I just completed post surgery All Liquids. Now I can have mushy/puree for next 2 weeks.

I drank nothing but liquids and nonfat greek yogurt (plain with some splenda) Clear broths, chicken, veggie, beef, SF popsicles,SF Jello cup, Crystal lights and for Breakfast & lunch costco Premier Protein shakes. I did NOT do jello, pudding.< /p>

Put you mind to it and you can do it. I lost 14 pounds since surgery on all liquids, 48 pounds total. I would question your doctor on NO yogurt, becasue it has Protein (as long as its greek plain yogurt).

I was told to use the same diet as the first two week fast. I've been eating a ton of applesauce. I can't wait for this month to end so I can eat some regular food. I miss the chewing sensation. I also miss hot food, the broth totally doesn't count. I can eat applesauce, yogurt (which is too sweet after surgery for me), and chicken broth. I'm allergic to oatmeal, but other patients can have oatmeal. I dislike the texture of jell-o, so that was out for me too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
