Can you give me some ideas as to what a menu for the day would be after I get banded? I know for the 1st week it is liquids and then soft foods (you can give me some ideas for that phase as well) and then on to regular food? Can someone please shoot out some ideas for me.

Thanks.

During the liquids - Soups are really good (think Tomato and the broth from chicken nooddle)

When you hit soft - mashed potatos, chuncky applesauce, thick and greek yougurt, unjury unflavored Protein powder added to up Protein, soft scrambled egg these really helped me. a soft fish can also fall in these.

Once on real food - becareful of dry meats and remember to CHEW!

Not to sound like an idiot but what are soft scrambled eggs?

Make sure they aren't too dry. I mix cottage cheese in with mine & it seems to lighten them so they don't get stuck. I also like cream of wheat & yougurt. Try to make sure you are getting Protein so if you have mashed potatoes mix in plain no fat Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. Hummus is yummy too.

I love hummus! Greek yogurt, laughing cow cheeses, cottage cheese, just a few of my soft foods. I also like tuna mixed with yogurt or a laughing cow cheese.

When you are on liquids sugar free popsicles are great. I also froze Protein shakes in popsicle trays and sucked on them (1 shake makes 6 popsicles).

As for food ideas after on solids, I use myfitnesspal, if you use it add me as a friend (ajtexas0) and you can see my food log.

Good luck.

#Thetimeisnow- do your Protein Shakes keep you full? I was always told not to use liquids as meals

I use the shakes in the manner they are meant to be used. I usually workout first thing in the morning and will have a shake for the Protein.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
